Every year since the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages was established, each Commissioner of Official Languages has tabled a report in Parliament on the Activities carried out by the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages in the previous year: the Annual Report. It is a bilingual publication that informs parliamentarians and Canadians about the status of official languages in Canada. The Annual Report also contains recommendations made to ensure full compliance with the provisions of the Official Languages Act.
The annual reports tabled in the Parliament of Canada by the Commissioner of Official Languages since the beginning of her term of office reflect the many roles she plays in the area of official languages in Canada. These annual reports are just one of the tools that provide the government with a framework to achieve continuous improvement and tangible, lasting and measurable results in the area of official languages. They are also evidence of the Commissioner's concern for the well-being of official language minority communities.
This series of documents summarizes key decisions on official languages and events pertaining to language rights.
Language Rights reports published before 1999 have been archived in the library of the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages. Feel free to contact us for further information.
