ABOUT RAP

The Research Affiliate Program (RAP) is specifically designed to give post-secondary students experience in applied research (design, execution, evaluation), when they must attain such knowledge and skills in order to graduate.

Students are normally placed with ongoing research operations in federal government facilities. The research projects must be related to the student's current degree program and must help the student develop specific knowledge and research skills.

RAP gives eligible students:

Valid    fair and equal access to student jobs offered by the Public Service of Canada;

Valid    opportunities to learn about the federal government and gain valuable experience while developing and improving their employability skills;

Rates of Pay
Effective January 1, 2005, students are paid either an hourly rate of pay or a stipend. The hourly rates will be consistent with those of other paid student employment programs.

For more information on student rates of pay refer to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Students or contact the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada at: student.etudiant@tbs-sct.gc.ca
