AnnouncementService Canada Access Centres of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada become Receiving Agents for the Passport OfficeTo provide better and more convenient access to Canadians applying for passports, a six-month pilot project between the Passport Office, Social Development Canada, and Human Resources and Skill Development Canada (HRSDC) has been put in place. At Human Resources Centres of Canada (HRCCs) in Brandon, Manitoba, Kamloops, British Columbia and Drummondville, Quebec, trained employees will act as receiving agents for passport applications, reviewing applications for accuracy and completeness. This preliminary check will ensure fewer errors and omissions that can cause delays in the issuance of passports once they arrive at the Passport Office processing center for examination. Once entitlement is confirmed, passports will be issued within 20 working days, not including mail time. The end result for Canadians is a more convenient access to in-person service. The pilot project has a duration of twelve months and its success will be evaluated at the conclusion of the project. How the service works
