Fees
The fees(1) below are listed in Canadian dollars and can be paid by:
- Cash
- Certified cheque or money order (postal or bank) made payable to the Receiver General for Canada
- Credit card (VISA, MasterCard, AMERICAN EXPRESS)
Credit cards are not accepted when applying from outside of Canada and the United States.
- Debit card (Interac)
Dishonoured payments
Administrative fees plus any applicable interest will be applied to all dishonoured payments.
Refunds
Passport Canada is no longer refunding passport and travel document service fees for applications that have been accepted for processing. This policy applies for applications submitted in person, by mail or through a participating receiving agent.

* Travel documents for adults
A fee of $87 is required with your initial application for a travel document. Only after your application is reviewed can we determine whether you are eligible to receive a Certificate of identity. In this case, an additional $40 will be required.

Note: Urgent or express services are available for emergency or compassionate reasons on a case-by-case basis. These services are available only for those applicants who can apply for a passport in person at a Passport Canada office and who provide proof to justify the urgency.
