Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Repeal of Guardianship Provisions
On January 8, 2005, regulations amending the guardianship provisions
in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) were published
in the Canada
Gazette.
These provisions concerning children under guardianship, specifically
paragraph
117(1)(e) and subsection 117(5) never came into force and have now
been repealed. As the guardianship provisions will not be enacted, they
have been removed from the Regulations.
The revised regulations were published in the Canada Gazette on
April 6,
2005.
