Program Objectives

The Depository Services Program's primary objective is to provide the Canadian public, through its depository library network, with an effective information safety net.

Its secondary objective is to assist the Federal Government (on behalf of the Treasury Board) to meet its own information needs and objectives.

The DSP meets these twin objectives by:

  • Supplying publications to the main libraries of federal departments and agencies at a reduced cost.
  • Providing Cataloguing-in-Publication for these government departments and agencies.
  • Managing and administering the majority of the government international library exchanges.
