GENERAL INFORMATION:
For over 35 years, Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCC-Y)
- formerly known as the Human Resource Centres of Canada for Students
(HRCC-S) - located in communities across the country, have been bringing
employers and students together, helping young people find work during the
summer months, and employers find and access qualified enthusiastic summer
help. SCC-Ys are named differently in some areas: Hire-A-Student Centres
(HAS) in Alberta and the Northwest Territories, Student/Youth Human Resource
Centres in Manitoba.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Coordinator and/or Supervisor of
the SCC-Y, the Summer Employment Officer assists students in obtaining
summer employment; responds to requests for information by SCC-Y clients
(employers and students); conducts group information sessions; plans and
organizes special events (i.e. Hire A Student Week, Official Opening of
SCC-Y); develops community partnerships for the promotion of the SCC-Y;
encourages local employers to create job opportunities for students; provides
general labour market information to clients; maintains statistical records
at the SCC-Y; and performs other related duties as requested.
NOTE:
Duties may vary depending on specific needs of local offices.
