Electronic Distribution of Construction Drawings and Specifications (EDCDS) on the Government Electronic Tendering Service (GETS)

GETS is the federal government's vehicle for advertising government procurement opportunities subject to the trade agreements and PWGSC's open bidding objectives.

As of June 18, 2005 , the electronic distribution of construction drawings and specifications, such as blueprints will be enabled through the Government Electronic Tendering Service (GETS), which is provided by MERX TM (www.merx.com).

The EDCDS solution will offer several features, including the use of industry recognized file naming conventions and directory structure. EDCDS will permit buyers to send large-sized electronic files and will reduce the cost associated with distributing construction solicitation packages.

The supplier community will benefit from EDCDS as it will enable wider distribution of construction solicitation packages. Features for suppliers include the ability to preview electronic versions of blueprints and specifications, and to download electronic blueprint/specification files – both free of charge.

Access to the EDCDS Solution and additional information, including how to register with MERX can be found at: http://www.merx.com.
