Navigation
Youth.gc.ca is very easy to navigate with two types of methods, menu bars and a search engine.
There are three different menu bars.
- Black buttons on the top correspond to the standard menu bar found on all Government Websites.
- Blue buttons on the top correspond to the various functions on youth.gc.ca, including:
- Side menu provides quick access to the Search function, as well as the Category buttons

Users from outside Canada or the United States please consult the service line toll-free number listing for the country from which you are dialing. Information officers are available to help you, in English and French, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Canadian Eastern Standard Time, Monday to Friday.

Search Engine
Side menu search - On the bottom of the side menu you'll find youth.gc.ca's search engine. It has two fields:
- Key words - use this field to narrow your search. Tips and Search rules will be posted in the near future.
- Category - choose the category that best narrows your search within youth.gc.ca.
Advanced Search page - When clicking on the black Search button at the top of the page, the Advanced Search page is displayed. Two of the features are the same as the Side menu search (see above). The additional field is:
- Links created - allows the user to choose postings that have been posted that day, week, month or no time limit. This gives you more control over your desired results.

Events Calendar
Youth.gc.ca's Calendar provides an easy way to keep informed of Youth activity in Canada. By clicking on the Calendar button, the Calendar page is displayed. The components of the page are listed below:
Search the Calendar - Youth.gc.ca's calendar search provides the user to select a category and/or a province to help narrow your results.
View the Calendar - Youth.gc.ca's calendar has several features.
- Arrows - at the top of the calendar provides an easy way to navigate through the calendar.
- Pointing - to a date on the calendar, a rollover window appears with a list of events happening that day.
- Clicking on a Date - will display an Event List, which contains a description and Web address for the event.
Event List - is a list of events and an address to a detailed page on the event. It is listed below the calendar.
Request to Post an Event - is located at the bottom of the calendar page. It contains five mandatory fields and an optional one for notes on the event. You must be registered to youth.gc.ca to use this function. (See Login).
- Event Title - is the title of the event
- Event URL - is the web address with the details about the event
- Description - is a brief description of the event - 25 words or less works best.
- Start Date - date the event starts
- End Date - date the event ends
- Notes - general information, which may be of interest to the youth.gc.ca community
Each request for event posting will be reviewed by youth.gc.ca administration and will be posted using their discretion.

Polls
The poll is located on the home page of the site. Once you submit your response, results are displayed automatically. If you are interested in viewing previous polls, click on the poll function located on the top, blue navigation bar.

The A-Z Index is an alphabetical listing of Government of Canada programs, services and initiatives. It also includes links to other commonly-sought information such as how to obtain a social insurance number, facts and figures about Canada and its people, Web sites for kids, etc.

Team Leaders, hundreds of volunteers across Canada and 16 Federal Department
worked together to create this site.
Tell a Friend
Help spread the word about youth.gc.ca and have some fun at the same time! By using Tell-a-friend, you can create your own virtual host and send it by e-mail to everyone you know. The virtual host is an animated character that speaks and is fully customizable - change what your host says and how it looks (clothes, hair, jewelry.. right down to eye colour!), type in a personal message and send it by e.mail to all your friends.
