Dialogue in Vancouver on Canada's social policies - Persons with Disabilities

VANCOUVER—The Honourable Ken Dryden, Minister of Social Development, will meet today with members from the British Columbia disability community to hear their views on issues affecting persons with disabilities.

"We want Canadians to have a chance to share their stories, voice their opinions and suggest future directions," Minister Dryden said. "I am pleased to have this opportunity to hear about the challenges, as well as the successes, of British Columbia's disability community."

Participants in this session will include persons with disabilities, employers, non-governmental organizations and parents. The discussion is part of the Government of Canada's efforts to ensure the ongoing involvement of citizens, communities, other levels of government, and the social and private sector in shaping Canada's social policy.

Social Development Canada is committed to strengthening Canada's social foundations by supporting the well-being of individuals, families and communities through citizen-focussed policies, programs and services.
