The initial meeting of the Industrial Security Advisory Board was held on Friday, May 20, 2005 with the following participants:

Members agreed that the Board's Mandate would be accepted as stated with the recognition that it is subject to change. Gerry Deneault, Director General, Industrial Security Sector (ISS), welcomed members and identified the reason for the creation of the Industrial Security Advisory Board and the importance of its being Association/ industry-focused. A presentation on the background and role of the Industrial Security Sector was provided to members, along with a description of the Sector's vision for the future.

Industry Associations agreed to:

  • Advertise the mandate of the ISAB to their members and provide a link to the web site containing Advisory Board information.

  • Consider ISS’ offer to make presentations to association members at future meetings (i.e., monthly meetings, AGMs, etc.).

  • Bring the following to the next meeting (to be held in September):

    1-2 key issues affecting their industry;
    1-2 suggestions on how ISS can improve or streamline its services.

  • Consider bringing select members to future meetings where appropriate to discuss broad issues.

Industrial Security Sector agreed to:

  • Provide a section on the ISS web site for the Industrial Security Advisory Board.

  • Continue examining opportunities for streamlining and improvements, including issues discussed at this session, e.g., uniform approach to security, charging for services, etc.

  • Consider inviting partners in the security and intelligence community to meetings where appropriate, e.g., government-wide approach to security clearances.
