The Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is the foremost biotechnology R&D; facility in the country. The NRC is committed in creating and implementing innovative programs and policies to ensure a dynamic and rewarding work environment that is comparable to those found in major research centres around the world. The BRI hires administrative staff as well as technical and research officers to develop R&D; programs focused on:
  • Infectious diseases and cancer;
  • Bioprocesses and technological development (from process design to industrial production) using microorganisms, enzymes or animal cells as biocatalysts;
  • Pollution control, prevention and monitoring, and the development of new biotechnological applications for combating climate change and achieving sustainable industrial development.
