The Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is the foremost biotechnology R&D; facility in the country. The BRI hires administrative staff as well as technical and research officers to develop R&D; programs focused on:

- Pollution control, prevention and monitoring, and the development of new biotechnological applications for combating climate change and achieving sustainable industrial development.
