What is new/changed?

Commissioner's Directive 740 -
Work Releases

Why was the policy changed?

A minor change is being made to paragraph 23 of Commissioner's Directive 740 on Work Releases.

What has changed?

The revision clarifies the requirement to brief in writing persons or organizations using the services of inmates on work releases or supervising a work release program on:

  • work release policies, procedures and conditions, and
  • any significant information about each inmate participant.

How was it developed?

The revision was developed jointly by the Correctional Operations and Programs Sector and the Policy Division.

Accountabilities?

Institutional Heads are responsible for the effective implementation of this revision.

Who will be affected by the policy change?

This policy impacts on inmates and on staff.

Expected cost?

No new costs are anticipated.
