Alcatel Sunday Bikedays

Hop on your bike, lace up your in-line skates, and hit the parkways — they’re closed to motor vehicles every Sunday morning from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day (May 21 to September 3, 2006). More than 50 kilometres of pure fun!

Parkways Closed to Motor Vehicles

Ottawa River Parkway (Ottawa)
The westbound lanes, located on the south side of the Ottawa River and west of downtown, are closed from 9 am to 1 pm, from Vimy Place (War Museum) to Carling Avenue.
Length: 9 kilometres

Colonel By Drive (Ottawa)
Both lanes, located on the east side of the Rideau Canal in the heart of the Capital, are closed from 9 am to 1 pm, from the Laurier Bridge to the Hog’s Back Bridge.
Length: 8 kilometres

Rockcliffe Parkway (Ottawa)
Both lanes, running along the south side of the Ottawa River just east of downtown, are closed from 9 am to 1 pm, from the Aviation Parkway to St. Joseph Boulevard (Orleans).
Length: 8 kilometres

Gatineau Park Parkways (Gatineau)
The Gatineau, Champlain and Fortune parkways are completely closed to motor vehicles from 6 am to 11 am. These parkways cover challenging, hilly terrain. One section, to the north of Lac-Meech Road (parking lot P8), is ideal for families with young children and is closed for two additional hours, that is, 6 am to 1 pm.
Length: 30.5 kilometres
