Founded it 1953, the National Library of Canada has the world’s most comprehensive collection of books, magazines, sound recordings, government documents and electronic publications. In 2003, the Library amalgamated with the National Archives of Canada, which house and care for millions of documents of all kinds — films, maps, diaries, treaties, art, government records, photographs, sound recordings and more. For everyone interested in Canadian heritage, Library and Archives Canada provides information about the individuals, issues and events that have shaped Canada’s history though exhibits, genealogy resources, reference services and websites, musical performances, lectures and author readings.
