National Capital Commission
Canada

The NCC manages over 300 hectares of parkland and green spaces in the urban area, the result of our commitment to safeguarding the natural and cultural heritage of the Capital region for future Canadians. They are also stages for national celebrations and cultural activities.

Urban parks are managed for various public interests — cultural, historical, event-related or environmental — but all activities contribute to a healthy, vital and sustainable green Capital. We have invested heavily in creating and, when necessary, revitalizing urban parks.

Each park reflects its vocation, with some areas — such as along the parkways or in Hog's Back Park — treated as naturalized landscapes (with wildflowers and native vegetation) and others landscaped with flower beds and the short turf more suitable for festivals.
