We have designed an Expression of Interest in Conducting an Event Form (pdf – 76 Kb) allowing you to detail your project. This document is the first step in requesting use of our sites and facilities. To help us process your request promptly, please complete all sections, attach any further information you deem of interest (site map, background information on your organization, etc.) and return it by mail or fax to:

Fee Structure

  • Major event: public or private event where the total projected attendance exceeds 1,000 people, where equipment is installed and exclusive use of a site is needed.
    Fee: $400 (fixed) plus $100/day (times 3 for commercial events)

  • Small-scale event: public or private event where the total projected attendance does NOT exceed 1,000 people, where equipment is installed and where exclusive use of the site is required (or a portion thereof). 
    Fee: $300 (fixed) plus $100/day (times 3 for commercial events)

  • Public gatherings: public activity where site infrastructures are not required, where equipment is not to be installed on the site and where the site does not need to be used exclusively. The site is usually used for a short period of time as a meeting place to prepare for an activity such as a march. Applies to public performances by buskers. 
    Fee: $100 (fixed) per day
    Fee (buskers): $100 per season

  • Parkway/driveway: public event which requires partial or complete closure of a parkway or driveway to hold activities such as parades, cycling and running races, walks, etc.

  • Recreational pathway/trail use: public event that requires the use of a portion of a recreational pathway or trail for activities of a non-competitive nature such as walk-a-thons, cycle-thons, blade-a-thons, etc. (The Gatineau Park trail network will allow for events of a competitive nature in approved locations only.) For reasons of public safety, the exclusive use of the recreational pathway network is not permitted. Contact the appropriate person at the NCC for specific guidelines on the use of the recreational pathway network, the Gatineau Park trail network or the Greenbelt trail network.
    Fee: $100

  • Rideau Canal Skateway use: public events that require the use of the Rideau Canal Skateway for activities that are compatible with the intended use of the Skateway, such as skate-a-thons, parades, busker performances, etc. Contact the NCC event support section to obtain the specific guidelines on use of the Rideau Canal Skateway.
    Fee: $100 (Fee not applicable to buskers)

  • Filming: activity that requires the use of NCC lands to hold a photography and/or filming session.
    Fee: $200 (fixed) per day (times 3 for commercial events)

  • Launching hot air balloons: the use of NCC lands for the launch of hot air balloons. Landing hot air balloons and blimps is not permitted on NCC lands per Transport Canada regulations.
    Fee:
    $100 (non-commercial season)
    $400 (commercial season)

  • Astrolabe: Concert site that can seat 700 people.
    Fee:
    $300 (non-profit)
    $600 (profit)

  • Wedding ceremonies: The Rockcliffe Park Gazebo can be reserved for wedding ceremonies (maximum: two hours), as can Mackenzie King Estate (non-exclusive). Available from mid-May to the end of October.
    Fee:
    $300 (Rockcliffe Gazebo)
    $250 (Mackenzie King Estate)

Liability Insurance

The Applicant shall at his or her own expense, purchase, provide and maintain in force for the event, comprehensive public liability insurance of no less than two million dollars ($2,000,000) per occurrence, naming the NCC as a co-insured party, thereby indemnifying and protecting the NCC against any claims arising from personal injury including death, property damage or third-party or public liability claims arising out of, or in connection with, entry onto and use of the site for the purpose of holding the event.

The liability coverage could increase, pending risk to the NCC.

Performance Bond

The NCC may impose a performance guarantee for which the NCC will determine the amount based on the risk to the site and the environment.
