Member, board of directors, numerous companies, financial institutions and universities. Chaired numerous fundraising initiatives. 1990: appointed by Premier Bourassa to the Bélanger–Campeau Commission. 1991: elected Mayor of the City of Hull. 1993: awarded honorary doctorate by University of Ottawa for contribution to the National Capital Region. NCC Chairperson since 1992.
