National Capital Commission
Canada

Working for the NCC is more than just a student job. The NCC fosters personal and professional growth. It focuses on providing excellent service, but also provides opportunities for employees and students to show their initiative. Students are treated well and listened to with respect. It’s a great place to make the jump from life as a student to life as a professional. I was lucky enough to do a marketing placement at the NCC, where I applied in real life what I had learned in university. I also got to work on some large projects, like the website and marketing campaigns. The NCC is a real philosophy of life — and I’m proud to be part of it.

Working for the National Capital Commission is a unique opportunity and a privilege for students who are proud of their city and their country. My participation in such great activities and projects as Sunday Bikedays, Escapade 2000 and Canada Day, and my involvement in managing green spaces like Gatineau Park, the Greenbelt and downtown parks not only helped me discover the rich natural, cultural and historical heritage of the region, but also allowed me to invest my ideas and energy in the development of a capital in the image of Canadians.

“The NCC is a flexible place to work, which is great if you’re a student. You can choose your hours to suit your schedule, and there are many different types of job to try within the organization. It’s a good working environment, with lots of humour.
– Estelle Buchbinder (1 year at the NCC)

I’m really enjoying working here. It’s definitely an experience… I’ve had a chance to meet a lot of people and try new things.
– Lyne Caron (4 months at the NCC)
