As you read this, a space probe is on its way to explore Pluto and the outermost reaches of the Solar System. Even though it's moving many times faster than a jet aircraft, the journey will take many years. With current technology, exploring space is nothing like what we see in science fiction series. On television, the spaceships are like aircraft; they point their nose in the direction of their destination and travel to it. In the reality, things are different.
