Implementation Policy Initiatives

Optimal implementation of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS) advances the protection of human research participants, accountability in research ethics and public trust in human research.

So how is the TCPS implemented? What are the practices, challenges, contexts and results of its use? What education initiatives or other strategies yield effective implementation by REB(s), researchers and institutions?

To respond to such questions and to foster high ethical standards, the Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics (PRE) is mandated to understand, support and promote the implementation of the TCPS. Addressing the challenges and contexts of its implementation will help to identify the needs and strategies for evolution for the TCPS.

PRE Task Group on Implementation

To advance policy initiatives for the implementation of the TCPS, PRE has created a Task Group on Implementation. Its projects are noted below. Staff from the Secretariat on Research Ethics support the task group.
