Engaging Voices: A Season of Consultations on the TCPS
17 February 2006, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ottawa ON

This 4 th annual workshop of the Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics (PRE) will take place in association with the annual conference of the National Council on Ethics in Human Research (NCEHR). The workshop will provide an update on PRE activities on the evolution of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS). The focus of the afternoon will be on community feedback and engagement on PRE’s current and pending projects to evolve the TCPS.

Congress 2005

The Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest annual academic gathering in Canada; its multidisciplinary character marks it as unique in the world. In 2005, an estimated 6,500 delegates representing over 70 learned societies are expected to come to London from all over North America, Europe, Africa and Asia to present their research and to debate some of the most important social and cultural questions of the day.

A Brave New World: Where Biotechnology and Human Rights Intersect
14 April 2005. Ottawa, ON

This conference explores human rights issues relating to biotechnology. Experts from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom will examine the issues surrounding clinical and research applications from assisted reproductive technology and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. A unique session will also look at these issues from the patient's point of view. Panel sessions will examine the issue of the rights to research for medical and scientific researchers, and legal, social, and ethical issues surrounding these fields of study.

Engaging Voices: Deliberating, Debating & Evolving the TCPS.
