Education Policy Initiatives

Education is a vital part of promoting and ensuring the highest ethical standards for the conduct of research involving humans. By outlining standards and processes to ensure that such research meets the standards, the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS) serves as an educational resource for those conducting, participating in, or reviewing human research in institutions funded by CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC.

As research standards and ethics evolve, so do the educational issues associated with them. The Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics (PRE) works in collaboration with the broader research community to advance the TCPS.

PRE Task Group on Education

To advance policy initiatives on educational dimensions of the TCPS, PRE has created a Task Group on TCPS Education. Its projects are noted below. Staff from the Secretariat on Research Ethics support the task group.
