Anne Dooley is Vice-President of the Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance
(CAPA), and chairs the Research Committee. Through joint collaborations
with other organizations, she has helped promote patient involvement in
all levels of arthritis research, designed an initiative to recruit knowledgeable
patients to ethics review boards, and has participated in many research
and bioethics related conferences. She is also a member and consumer reviewer
of the Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group, is an allied member of the Consumer
Advisory Council of the Canadian Arthritis Network which is the Canadian
Network of Centre of Excellence for Arthritis Research, is a member of
The Arthritis Society and also of Arthritis Consumer Experts. She has
been a research subject, and served as a member of Health Canada's Advisory
Committee on Governance of Research Involving Humans.
Prior to being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, Ms. Dooley was actively
involved in aviation as a commercial pilot and flying instructor, and
was a strong advocate for general aviation safety and services. She holds
a B.A., is a published author, and brings with her the knowledge gained
from years of public service experience including that gained from serving
on Boards of Directors of several volunteer organizations, and owning
and operating a specialty flying service.
