Montmagny, Quebec
Application No. 2005-1570-3 |
|
Application by 591991 B.C.
Ltd., subsidiary of Corus Entertainment Inc., relating to the
licence of radio programming undertaking CFEL-FM Montmagny. |
|
The licensee proposes to change
the authorized contours by increasing the average effective
radiated power from 8,740 watts to 25,700 watts, by decreasing the
antenna height and by relocating the transmitter (maximum effective
radiated power 100,000 watts/antenna height 56.9 metres). |
|
As a result of the proposed
changes, the coverage area will be broadened and extended to the South
Shore area of Quebec City, including Lévis and the surrounding areas. |
|
The licensee indicates that the
proposed changes will enable it to improve the quality of its signal at
Lévis while continuing to serve Montmagny. The signal will also extend
into an adjacent area that currently has no local radio service. |
|
The Commission also notes that
the proposed changes in the technical parameters will significantly
shift the station’s coverage area to include part of Quebec City and the
surrounding areas. |
|
As a result, the station could
be considered as serving the Quebec City market, including Lévis and
Montmagny. |
|
The Commission will only
proceed with this application at the public hearing if advised by the
Department of Industry, at least twenty days prior to the hearing, that
it is technically acceptable. |
