Canadian Content via Cable, Satellite and other Distribution Systems

Canadian content is the cornerstone of the Broadcasting Act's policy objectives for the Canadian broadcasting system.

The CRTC's regulatory framework for broadcasting distribution undertakings (e.g. cable, direct-to-home satellite services, multipoint distribution systems) fosters the development of effective competition in the distribution industry and, at the same time, ensures that the Canadian content objectives of the Broadcasting Act are met.

The framework strengthens the capacity of the Canadian broadcasting system to support competitive Canadian television programming by:
