Q2:
I am having technical difficulties with the site. Where do I go for help?
A2:
If you are having trouble with the site, you can contact the Speakers
Bureau manager at
bureau@csc-scc.gc.ca .
Q3:
The speaker I have chosen doesn't live near me. How are travel arrangements
made for this type of situation?
A3:
You are welcome to invite this speaker to your event but you will be responsible
for his or her travel costs. CSC does not have funding available to offset these costs.
Q4:
I can't find anyone suitable for my event. What should I do?
A4:
You may want to broaden your search so that you find more speakers to match
your criteria. There are over 300 speakers in the database including wardens,
correctional officers, and parole officers. We have made every effort to ensure
that speakers are available to speak on a very broad range of topics. If you still
can't find someone, contact the Speakers Bureau manager at
bureau@csc-scc.gc.ca.
Q5:
What do speakers charge for speaking events?
A5:
The speakers listed with this service are volunteers. They do not charge
for their services, nor are they paid by CSC to do this work. CSC speakers
do these presentations above and beyond their normal workload because they
believe in the importance of sharing their experiences and knowledge with the public.
Q6:
Am I allowed to give my speaker a gift or honorarium after the presentation?
A6:
You are certainly welcome to thank your speaker with a small gift or honorarium
after the presentation. However, please note that this is not mandatory and you
are under no obligation to make this gesture.
Q7:
I had an exceptional speaker at my event. How can I make sure that this person
gets recognition from his or her supervisor?
A7:
If you had an exceptional speaker at your event, please send a note to the
Speakers Bureau manager. We are then able to contact this person's supervisor
to let him or her know.
Q8:
Why did I have to give my organization's information before searching for a speaker?
A8:
CSC is interested in gauging how many people are accessing the Speakers Bureau,
the types of groups that are using the service, and their geographic locations.
This information is stored in the database and enables us to measure the effectiveness
of the service and make changes accordingly.
Q9:
I would like to invite the Commissioner to speak at my event. How do I contact her?
A9:

the Speakers Bureau manager at bureau@csc-scc.gc.ca.
