Many seniors suffer from sensory impairments. Their ability to live independently in the community is jeopardized by these losses. These observations were made by the National Advisory Council on Aging (NACA) during a national consultation held in 1988-89 on the barriers to independent living faced by seniors and were the impetus for this series of in-depth papers on sensory loss.
