Climate Research Branch

Climate Research Branch Home Page

Welcome to the Climate Research Branch's home page. The Climate Research Branch (CRB) is a branch of the Meteorological Service of Canada, which is a part of Environment Canada, one of many departments of the Canadian federal government. The CRB research agenda is driven by the public concern with climate and climate change. Our objective is to help provide the scientific basis necessary for wise policy and decision making by governments and the public. To accomplish this, our activities are directed at:

  • understanding the climate system by investigating key processes,
  • developing models of the climate system as a means of integrating our knowledge and developing possible scenarios of future climates, and
  • assessing the current state of the climate, its variability and extreme events.

The Branch's Organization, describes the Branch's divisions, their annual reports, and staff. For your convenience, the CRB's stand alone web sites have been grouped together in our Web Highlights section. We've listed the Branch's Research Topics to provide you with a quick overview of the scope of the work undertaken by the Branch.  The Publications page provides the particulars.
