EC Library, Downsview - Contents
The EC Library Downsview, established in 1871, is the second oldest
federal library in Canada. It acts as a national collection for
meteorology, climate research, air quality, severe weather and atmospheric
sciences.
The library also holds materials on Great Lakes water quality, pollution,
hazardous contaminants, environmental emergencies and conservation of
natural resources.

in the online catalogue available outside the firewall as well as the
scope of the microfiche and card catalogue which are available on site

stated in this section. Forms for Book/Report requests, Article/Journal
requests and Conference requests are provided. There is also a link to
other Environment Canada Libraries and their locations and catalogues.

- The library collection subject coverage is described in this section.
Also described are the special collections such as the MSC Archives, the
AES Training Branch Archives, the WMO collection, the 70000 Series and the
Learning Centre as well as the Map and Atlas Collection and collection of
videos, films, slides and CD-ROMs. Access to these special collections
is also noted. Links to lists of films, CD-ROMs, etc. are provided but
links to the library's print and online serials are only through the
online catalogue. There is a link however to a selection of free
online magazines and newspapers. Our paid online journals and indexes
are available in-house only.

items held in the library such as the regulator clock and painting of the
Toronto Observatory is given in this section. Images and description of
the previous and present buildings which housed the MSC Headquarters and
