Canadian Business at the "World of Solutions"

(Exhibitors from the private sector were part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference and the ‘World of Solutions’.  They were asked by Canada: Daily Highlights:  “What is your organization doing about climate change?” Their responses are presented below.)

TerraChoice Environmental Marketing

TerraChoice Booth“We are the administrators of Environment Canada’s environmental labelling program that recognizes organizations that are dedicated towards creating products and services that have a lower environmental impact such as: reduced emissions and reduced consumption in manufacturing or service provision. As and Environmental Marketing Firm, we help grow the worlds most sustainable corporations by providing marketing, communications and business solutions. Ultimately we use the marketplace to reward environmental innovation and drive our clients success.“

Netistix Technologies Corporation

Netistix BoothWe developed a low-cost vehicle monitoring and information system for consumers who wish to reduce their emissions, fuel, and life cycle costs, while improving vehicle reliability and safety. The system identifies when driving behaviours are inefficient, resulting in more fuel use, or when vehicle maintenance is required. Consumers also receive a detailed analysis about both their vehicle and a history of their driving behaviour. In the future, an education program will be developed to inform consumers where improvements can be made to reduce their fuel consumption and operating costs.

Bell Canada

Bell Canada BoothBell is a responsible company who has implemented programs to protect the environment. Bell provides Canadians innovative services and solutions to reduce their energy consumption and their greenhouse gas emissions.

In this regard, Bell Canada offers teleconferencing, videoconferencing, web conferencing, and teleworking solutions, thanks to high-speed broadband. These growing communication solutions used by millions of Canadians each year enable them work and exchange information without the need for travel. These services allow important reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.

Saskatchewan Soil Conservation Association BoothSaskatchewan Soil Conservation Association

“We are a non-profit, producer-based organization dedicated to the promotion of soil conservation. We help educate farmers about best management practices that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and sequestration soil carbon through outreach activities and demonstrations on their farmers.”

Hydro-Québec

Hydro-Québec Booth“Hydro-Québec produces 97% of hydro-electricity which generates less than 1% of greenhouse gas emissions in the province of Quebec. We launched the Energy Wise program to help our clients reduce their electricity consumption and emissions.

More recently, we introduced the ‘Climate Positive’ program in enthusiastic support of the Government of Canada’s effort to offset 10kt of CO2 to make the United Nations Climate Change Conference: Montreal 2005 a climate-neutral event. Hydro-Quebec decided to go above and beyond neutral, forming a group of partners who propose to offset more than twice the amount of GHG emissions generated by the Conference, to make this a climate-positive event.”
