Nearly 10,000 people took part in a “Global Climate March” as part of an International Day of Climate Action.

Marchers wound their way through the the streets of Montreal and ended at the Conference site demanding real measures to stop climate change. Organizers described the march as a “festive, family and peaceful spirit” and welcomed “all citizens, young and old, of Quebec and the world, who are concerned with their future and the future of the planet”.

The Organizing Coalition for the 2005 Global March was made up of a broad array of non-political environmental, and student and union organizations from Quebec and around the world. Similar events were organized in other world cities, including Turkey, Germany, Australia and the United States.
