'Greening' the Conference
In line with the Government of Canada’s commitment to Project Green and to ensure that its internal operations are among the greenest in the world, a commitment was made to ensure that the UN Climate Change Conference would be a carbon neutral event. The Government of Canada also took measures to ensure that the overall environmental impact of this event was reduced through the adoption of a green meeting strategy.
The Government of Canada was proud to host the UN Climate Change Conference as a carbon neutral event, demonstrating its willingness to take concrete action towards its environmental goals and show leadership in the area of addressing climate change.
All attendees at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP11/MOP1), were part of the greening efforts for this event. Numerous recycling stations – for paper, plastics, metal and glass – were located around various venues within the Palais des Congrès, and delegates and others at the Conference made good use of them!
