Raising Awareness

Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (ENGOs) play a major part not only in raising awareness of climate change and related issues, but also in supporting research into climate change impacts and adaptation, and encouraging governments and individuals alike to act.

Under the Raising Awareness theme, ENGOs are hosting a number of parallel events at Montréal 2005, all of which are open to the public. Beyond building awareness and understanding of climate change, these events will explain the issues at stake at the UN Climate Change Conference, and the role of individuals in taking action on climate change.

In addition, youth non-governmental organizations will host an invitation-only Summit at Environment Canada’s Biosphère in Montréal for participants aged 18-26.
