General Information

This section includes a variety of general information related to SARA. Although this may be broad in nature, it does provide an overview of the various activities related to the protection and recovery of wildlife species.

News releases and factsheets provide information on key events and components under the Act. In addition, both the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) and the Minister of Environment, must publish an annual report on their activities and administration of the Act.

Finally, you will find any written roundtable recommendations; the Minister's response to those recommendations; and reports on the general status of wildlife species. Published every five years, these reports provide an overview on the situation of wildlife species in Canada.
