Media Weather Portal
OTTAWA - October 31, 2002 - Environment Canada is now offering a dedicated and free weather service for Canadian news media. The new Weather Media Portal gives you a customized service with timely access to quality and up-to-date weather information.
With information automatically refreshed every 5 minutes, this new service enables you to receive data tailored to your needs directly from the Meteorological Service of Canada. It offers independent media-only access ensuring media continuous, uninterrupted access even in the event of server failure.
The Media Weather Portal's features include: weather alerts; current conditions; public forecasts; satellite, radar and lightning imagery; and marine forecasts and ice information.
Why Do You Need This Service?
- Weather information including weather warnings is automatically refreshed every 5 minutes
- You can customize the weather information on the Media Weather Portal the way you want it
- One Media outlet, multiple accounts
- Independent Media Portal Servers offer dedicated weather access

How Do I Start?
- All you need is a username and agreement to accredit Environment Canada
- Contact your Regional Media Rep listed under contacts
