JOIN US FOR THE NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE CHANGE SCENARIOS AND ADAPTATION AND THE LAUNCH OF THE CLIMATE CHANGE SCENARIOS NETWORK

  • How will climate change affect agriculture and other sectors in Canada?
  • How will agriculture and other sectors adapt to climate change?
  • What is our current state of understanding on these issues?
  • What tools are available to assess the risks of climate change?
  • What tools are available to support adaptation planning?

We would like to invite you to join us, Environment Canada’s Adaptation & Impacts Research Group (AIRG), for the National workshop on Climate Change Scenarios and Adaptation. This workshop will mark the launch of the Climate Change Scenarios Network, a new platform for the delivery of climate change scenarios and Impacts and Adaptation Research. The workshop will provide you with the most recent updates on climate change science, particularly the simulation models that are used to assess the range of changes that we might experience in this century the tools used to create climate change scenarios and assess the risks fo climate change the impacts of climate change and extreme weather on agriculture and other sectors such as fisheries, infrastructure, water supply and energy adaptations to climate change impacts, and the tools used to support adaptation planning and research. The workshop will also provide opportunities to meet with and share your opinions with the scientists who are conducting the research.

The workshop will begin on Monday afternoon with a reception and demonstrations of some of the tools that will be provided through the network. The following day will begin with an update on the science of climate change and climate scenarios, followed by two parallel tracks, dealing with the impacts of and adaptation to climate change and extreme weather, in agriculture and in other economic sectors. The workshop is being held in conjunction with the BIOCAP workshop on Feb 2nd-3rd. Although, there are no registration fees for this workshop, we would ask that you register.
