The Branch also established an innovative partnership with the Canadian university community by funding the Climate Research Network (CRN) through the University of Victoria. Since 1994, the CRN has engaged the energies, ideas and talents of the university and private sector communities by providing the critical scientific knowledge required for policy-making related to climate change and climate variability. It currently consists of a network of nine collaborative research groups that each focus on a specific area of climate research.
