What We Do
![]() The Atmospheric and Climate Science Directorate (ACSD) conducts research in climate, meteorology, air quality, and environmental impacts and adaptation. It produces science assessments on pressing environmental issues (such as climate change, acid rain, and the depletion of the ozone layer, etc...) for Canadians and government policy makers. Important components of this research are atmospheric and meteorological monitoring networks, process research studies (including field experiments), and the development of supercomputer models for environmental and weather prediction. The Atmospheric and Climate Science Directorate works closely with Canadian universities and the international science community to support Environment Canada's science policies, service responsibilities to Canadians, and to advance environmental science and technology, both nationally and internationally.
