Aviation and Defence Services BranchAviation and Defence Services Branch (ADSB) of Services, Clients and Partners Directorate (SCPD) exists to serve two significant clients of MSC: NAV CANADA and the Department of National Defence (DND). NAV CANADA is a non-share capital, private corporation that owns and operates Canada's civilian air navigation service. Services to NAV CANADA includes inspection and maintenance of weather observing equipment and programs, aviation forecast production, provision of the NAV CANADA aviation weather web site, satellite dissemination of aviation weather data, meteorological charts, and radar and satellite information. ADS's Client Services and Marketing Division administers the NAV CANADA account, and works in concert with the many regional and national staff who perform the required work. For serving DND, ADS has close to 70 staff located at DND facilities to provide:
Met Ops staff provide routine and short-notice support to military operations in Canada and around the world. ADS Informatics and Systems staff provide workstation, server and other operational computer system support, specialized software and network support for the Canadian Forces Weather and Oceanographic Service WAN (wide area network). Training Services Division staff provide meteorological instruction at DND schools, as well as assist with co-ordinating professional training for meteorologists.
