Solar radiation has characteristics of waves and of particles called photons. The very short wavelengths at 0.000000000001 meters are called gamma rays while the longest wavelengths are radio waves 10,000 meters long. Visible light in the range of 0.000001 meters is what we see and can be broken down into various colours from purple to red. With a shorter wavelength, ultraviolet radiation is made up of UVA, UVB and UVC. To learn more about solar radiation, visit NASA's electromagnetic spectrum website.
