DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER - TO ATTEND WEF, NEW YORK

John Manley, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Public Security and Anti-terrorism, will
be in New York City from January 31 to February 2 to attend the World Economic Forum. While in New York, he will
meet with Tom Ridge, United States Director of Homeland Security. Deputy Prime Minister Manley and Governor Ridge
are honouring their commitment to meet early in 2002 to discuss progress on the Smart Border Declaration, the 30-point
action plan signed in Ottawa on December 12, 2001.
