PETTIGREW - BRIEFING ON CHINA-WTO LEGISLATION

Media representatives are advised that senior federal government officials will hold a briefing on An Act to Amend Certain Acts as a Result of the Accession of the People's Republic of China to the Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization. The bill, which will be tabled on Tuesday, February 5, 2002, will amend existing Canadian legislation, allowing Canada to fully implement safeguards and anti-dumping rights that were agreed to in China's WTO accession negotiations.
