PARADIS - VISIT TO PARIS

Secretary of State (Latin America and Africa) (Francophonie) Denis Paradis will be in Paris, France, on July 25 in his capacity as the Government of Canada's official representative to La Francophonie.

During his visit, Mr. Paradis will be meeting with Pierre-André Wiltzer, the new French Minister-delegate for Cooperation and La Francophonie. As representatives of two important member countries of the International Organization of La Francophonie, they will be discussing preparations for the IX Francophonie Summit, to be held in Beirut, Lebanon, from October 18 to 20, 2002.

Secretary of State Paradis will also be meeting with Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie and with Roger Dehaybe, General Administrator of the Intergovernmental Agency of La Francophonie.
