PETTIGREW ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR
ALBERTA EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew is pleased to announce that projects submitted by the University of
Calgary, Calgary, and the University of Alberta, Edmonton, have been selected for funding under the
Development of International Business Studies Program. The Program's seed funding, provided over three
years, aims to assist academic institutions in offering high quality international business training.
"We recognize the important contribution that Canadian universities and colleges make to our prosperity," said
Mr. Pettigrew. "The University of Calgary and the University of Alberta will play an active role in training today's
and tomorrow's exporters, and will make Canadian industry more competitive around the globe."
The University of Calgary will develop a specialization in international energy management within the MBA
degree. The University of Alberta will establish a knowledge network with businesses and academic institutions
to further develop international business training and promotion.
The other institutions that were selected are:
• University College of the Cariboo, Kamloops, British Columbia
• Capilano College, North Vancouver, British Columbia
• Saskatchewan Indian Federated College, Regina, Saskatchewan
• Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario
• Collège Boréal, Sudbury, Ontario
• École de technologie supérieure, Montreal, Quebec
• École des Hautes Études Commerciales, Université de Montréal, Montreal, Quebec
• University of Moncton, Moncton, New Brunswick
