Canada's Environmental Assessment Framework for Trade Negotiations

Ongoing Environmental Assessments

The public is invited to submit comments at any stage of an environmental assessment (EA) of a trade negotiation. All comments received are distributed to an interdepartmental EA Committee for the trade negotiation so that they can inform the next stage of analysis. In addition, negotiators are made aware of the concerns and issues raised in the comments. The EA Committee includes other federal government departments, and representatives from negotiating groups, and its Chair is the Chief Negotiator. Comments also help guide improvements to the EA of trade process.
