More information about soil and groundwater remediation can be obtained from the following websites

Environment Canada's Green Lane: is Environment Canada's Internet resource for environmental and weather information. The Green Lane helps connect Canadians, exchange information and share knowledge for environmental decision-making, and can be found at www.ec.gc.ca.

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP): is the voice of the upstream producing sector of the petroleum industry. CAPP is involved in co-funded environmental research, development and demonstration (RD&D). The Environmental Research Advisory Council (ERAC) is an upstream petroleum industry/government research organization responsible for RD&D on crude oil and natural gas production issues in Western Canada, including soil and groundwater issues. CAPP's web address is www.capp.ca.

The Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME): is a council made up of environment ministers from the federal, provincial and territorial governments. The CCME works to promote cooperation and coordination of interjurisdictional issues such as waste management, air pollution and toxic chemicals. You can view the CCME standards for the clean-up of sites contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons in soil at www.ccme.ca.

Alberta Environment: is the site of Alberta's Environment Ministry. Their Land Reclamation site contains information relating to the conservation and reclamation of Alberta's lands. The site can be found at www3.gov.ab.ca/env/protenf/landrec/index.html. Alberta Environment also has a site with loads of information dedicated to soil and groundwater assessment and management. This information can be found at http://www3.gov.ab.ca/env/protenf/soilgrndwater/index.html.

Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC): is a not-for-profit association that focuses on improving the financial, environmental and safety performance of the Canadian upstream conventional oil and gas industry. PTAC facilitates collaborative research and technology efforts. Their website, at www.ptac.org/index.html, contains resources and technical links as well as information on their projects.

The Gas Technology Institute (GTI): provides energy and environmental products and services with a focus on natural gas. Their website, at www.gri.org/, contains a variety of technical information on finding, producing, delivering and using natural gas, including soil and water quality management.

The University of North Dakota Energy and Environmental Research Center: maintains expertise in scientifically advanced energy systems and the prevention and cleanup of air, water, and soil pollution. Their website, located at www.eerc.und.nodak.edu/, contains fact sheets and information on their programs. Information on the Gas Industry Groundwater Research Program can be found on their website at http://www.eerc.und.nodak.edu/.

The University of Alberta's Renewable Resources Faculty : maintains a website that provides information on the ecological and physical processes that operate within landscapes and the consequences of their manipulation. Information about their research on soil remediation, revegetation of disturbed lands, land reclamation, and the chemistry, biology and physics of contaminated soils and soil-waste combinations can be obtained at http://www.rr.ualberta.ca/Research/Index.asp?page=LRRR.

The U.S. Department of Energy: has a website that provides information about their Oil & Gas Research and Development Program that can be viewed at http://www.energy.gov/engine/content.do?BT_CODE=ENERGYSOURCES.
