Diversity, Equality and Access to Justice
Funding for this priority area is awarded to projects that seek to implement, explore and increase knowledge on access to justice issues, in particular taking into account consideration for gender equality and diversity issues and integrate the information gained into justice policies, strategies and practices.
In fiscal year 2002/2003[1]:
- 30 project proposals were received.
- 26 proposals were approved. Organizations approved for funding included: 11 non-profit national/provincial organizations, 7 Canadian institutions of education, 3 individuals, 3 professional organizations, 1 non-profit community organization and 1 International organization.
- The type of activities approved for funding included: 8 'other', 7 conferences, 5 PLEI projects, 2 training projects, 1 pilot project, 1 consultation, 1 course development and 1 research project.
- The Fund provided a total of $1,098,931 to these projects.
- Eleven projects were completed during the period under review.
- During this time, 13 project proposals were rejected
