Scouts Canada and the RCMP, in partnership with the Government of Canada, worked with a national team of experts to develop educational programs around four main themes:
- Bullying: for children 10 to 11 years old, developed with the RCMP and the assistance of the Youth Section of Montreal's Police
Department.
- Internet safety: for children 9 to 11 years old, developed with Industry
Canada.
- Diversity and respect: for children 9 to 11 years old, developed with Canadian
Heritage.
- School bus safety: for children 5 to 7 years old, developed with Transport Canada in cooperation with the provincial and territorial ministries of
transportation.

What does "Be Bright, Think Right" mean
to young Canadians? |
- Knowing how to avoid hazards on our roads;
- Learning what precautions to take when travelling by school bus;
- Surfing the internet with safety in mind;
- Treating people the way you want to be treated;
- Talking to your local police officer, teacher, your friends and your family about what you can do to make your community a safer and better place to live;
- But most of all, learning and having some fun in the process.
Distribution
Before the September 2002 school season starts, the RCMP will distribute kits to all of its detachments (more than 700) and Scouts Canada will distribute kits to all other law enforcement agencies across the country.
Be Bright-Think Right will help peace officers and Scout leaders work directly with children and provide information on these important subjects.
For further information, please contact your local Scouts
Canada office or call 1-888-Scouts-Now (1-888-726-8876).
