International Workshop on Aviation Operational
Measures for Fuel and Emissions Reductions
On November 5-6, 2002 Transport Canada proudly hosted the second of a series of workshops on operational measures for reducing fuel and emissions. The workshop was held at the National Art Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The first of such workshops was held in Madrid, Spain in May 2002.
The goal of this technical workshop was to:
-
highlight information on fuel and emissions reductions, as identified in a circular being published by the International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO); and to
-
share practical experiences and methods that have contributed to emissions reductions in all aspects of the aviation industry.

The workshop was held as part of an overall strategy to address emissions reductions in the aviation sector in response to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Ninety participants from Canada and around the world, including representatives from government and industry as well as a delegation of the ICAO Air Navigation Commission attended the workshop. The event was held in both official languages. The workshop included panels on aircraft, air traffic management, airline planning, flight operations and two panels on airport operations.
Participants found the workshop to be highly informative. For your benefit, we have posted all the presentations on the web. Please click
